The Most Blatant TD Pairing Ever

Okay, after talking with some of my good friends about it, I've had lots of second thoughts about this pairing that I used to support until recently, and now I have a few things to say about what I now think of this hugely overexposed couple.

First of all Fresh TV, WE GET IT. Alright, guys? WE GET IT: They're your main couple of the last two seasons, they're meant to be together, they're gonna hook up by the end of each season. This is your main romantic arc for TDROTI and TDAS.

Now my question to you is, did you have to be so up in our faces about it?

From the moment this couple is introduced, they're all ready head-over-heels in love with each other. Right off the bat, it seems as if they were soulmates for life, and when the ship has barely left the dock Mike's already talking about marriage and Zoey is all over him. Wow, really eager to cement their passions so soon after they literally just met, weren't you guys?

Yeah that's all well and good that there's at least one main romantic arc set up for us, but for all the promotion it gets, where is the buildup? It's so obvious that they would eventually get together and that the only thing standing in the way of that was Mike's multiple personalities, and that once that was overcome they would be an official item. And even after that is finally accomplished, it's done all over again step by step in All-Stars, riding on the same "Will they get together?" drama without actually establishing at any point why they feel so strongly for each other or even why they should get together, and above all why we should be touched when they finally are able to get together..........TWICE, at that! And yet their romantic arc is the romantic arc across two seasons. Whereas a couple like Samkota around the same time actually had passion and buildup, this one outright forgot the buildup part, as if the openly blatant "They will get together" message is cause enough to be happy for them when this finally comes to pass.

For all of its active promotion, it ultimately doesn't gain much traction or depth, relying solely on the question of "Will they get together?" to get them by. And that's not even touching upon the unhealthy extremes both resorted to in All-Stars to see that they remain together as the entire Mal fiasco was ongoing.

This is a couple that lacks subtlety and any depth beyond their mutual attraction to each other, for reasons rarely elaborated on. I mean for a couple they were so eager  to get fans giddy and going, they forgot that we need a reason to root for this pairing by actually establishing why they'd actually be great together. Looking back, I don't think they succeeded.

Just to be clear here, this is ***NOT*** designed as an anti-Zoey or anti-Mike motivational. I mean yes, I do dislike Mike intensely now due to the events of All-Stars, and I still do love Zoey for other reasons that do not involve this romance. But after some careful reflection on this couple and some very eye opening observations from a few dear friends of mine, I realize that Zoke is not the great couple I once held onto it as. For what I saw in its initial sweetness, it really does not hold up anymore, especially since more time is spent on the question of whether they'll hook up rather than on their actual hookup. So the chemistry technically never truly materializes.

That being said, no offense is intended to any Zoke fans, fans of these two, or anyone else at large. I just wanted to come out and share my newly evolved feelings about this couple and why I no longer am a strong supporter of it.

Fresh, if you want a main couple as one of your big focuses of each season, fine. But handle it with a little more care and class than this. You need more than just a mutual attraction to justify a couple; you need to actually establish a chemistry for that couple, a chemistry that makes sense. You had a handle on this at one point; please think things through before you try it again in later seasons, please.

And once again I've let myself get rather wordy and talkative, as I am prone to doing. My bad, guys. :XD:
